Bounce Protection

Anyone can make an error. Bounce Protection is a discretionary bank service that can protect you by paying, rather than returning, insufficient checks. This saves you the embarrassment, cost and hassle of dealing with a returned check. Bounce Protection should not be considered as a regular source of funds, and to enjoy the service your account must remain in good standing. There is a fee for each check paid.

Western National Bank offers Bounce Protection to qualifying customers. We will consider, without obligation, payment of your reasonable overdrafts – up to $500 for “E-Checking” accounts and up to $900 for other Personal Checking accounts as long as your account has been open 30 days, and maintained in good standing.

The following information describes the qualifications, requirements, and restrictions of Western National Bank’s Bounce Protection Program.

A non-sufficient funds (negative) balance may result from: A) The payment of checks, electronic funds transfers, or other withdrawal requests; B) Payments authorized by you; C) The return, unpaid, of charges; or E) The deposit of items which according to the bank’s Funds Availability Policy, are treated as not yet “available” or finally paid.

We are not obligated to pay any item presented for payment if your account does not contain sufficient collected funds.  Rather than automatically returning, unpaid, any non-sufficient funds items that you may have, if your eligible account has been open for at least thirty (30) days and thereafter you maintain your account in good standing, which includes at least:  (A) Continuing to make deposits consistent with your past practices,  (B)  You are not in default on any loan obligation to the bank,  (C)   You bring your account to a positive balance  (not  overdrawn) at least once every thirty (30) days, and (D) Your account is not the subject of any legal or administrative order or levy, we will consider, without obligation on our part, approving your reasonable overdrafts.  This discretionary service will generally be limited to a $500 overdraft (negative) balance for Free Checking accounts, $900 overdraft (negative) balance for other eligible personal checking accounts, $1,000 overdraft (negative) balance for commercial checking accounts  (some restrictions do apply).  Fees and charges including our non- sufficient funds/overdraft fees (as set forth in our fee schedule which is currently $30.00 per item) will be included in this limit and will apply to any transaction that overdraws your account including, but not limited to, payment authorized by Checks, ACH / Electronic Items, ATMs/ Debit Card/ Check Card, Internet Banking/ Online Banking and Telephone Banking Transactions.

We may refuse to pay an overdraft for you at any time, even though your account is in good standing and even though we may have previously paid overdrafts for you.  You will be notified by mail of any non- sufficient funds items paid or returned that you may have; however, we have no obligation to notify you before we pay or return any item.

Here’s how the Bounce Protection Service works when we pay your overdraft item:  If you inadvertently write a check, have an ACH debit or other type of payment or withdrawal request for more than the funds on deposit in your account, we may cover them, and save you time, money and inconvenience.  If your account type permits a $500 Bounce Protection limit, you may be covered for a check of $470 plus the $30 overdraft charge.  Alternatively, you may be covered for a $100 ACH debit, a check of $340 plus the $60 overdraft charge for two items.

The amount of any overdrafts plus our overdraft fee that you owe us shall be due and payable upon demand.  If there is an overdraft paid by us on an account, with which more than one owner is on the signature card, each owner, and agent if applicable, presenting the item creating the overdraft shall be jointly and severally liable for such overdrafts plus our overdraft fee (s).

PRESENTMENT OF ITEMS:  Transactions may not be processed in the order in which they occurred or in the order in which received by the bank and processed can affect the total amount of overdraft fees incurred on your account.  More than one overdraft fee may be charged to your account per day depending on the number of checks present on and other withdrawals made to your account.  Western National Bank pays the items being presented for payment from the largest dollar amount to the smallest dollar amount.

LIMITATIONS:  Savings accounts, Money Market Accounts, Public Funds, Charitable Organization Accounts and Minor Accounts are not eligible.  We may limit the number of accounts eligible for Bounce Protection Service to one account per household and one account per tax payer identification.

ELIGIBLE TRANSACTION TYPES:  Each transaction item initiated for payment against your checking account (s) may be processing by us using your assigned Bounce Protection limit, including without limitation:  Checks, ACH, Internet Banking transfer (s).  ATM and POS items will be eligible transaction types if you have opted in to allow your Bounce Protection limit to be used to pay these types of transactions.

OPTIONAL OVERDRAFT PROTECTION SERVICES:  Western National Bank offers an optional overdraft protection product.  You may obtain overdraft protection from funds transfer (sweep) from a designated account.
You may choose at any time to Opt-out of Western National Bank’s Bounce Protection Program by notifying any Western National Bank’s customer service representative.

IF YOU NEED HELP:  Overdrafts should NEVER be used to finance ordinary or routine expenses – and you should never rely on overdrafts to cover these expenses.   Contact customer service at (432)570-4181 if at any time you feel you need help with your financial obligations.

ALWAYS A DISCRETIONARY SERVICE:   This service does not constitute an actual or implied agreement between you and Western National Bank.  Nor does it constitute an actual or implied obligation of Western National Bank.  The service is a discretionary service that Western National Bank may withdraw or cancel at any time without prior notice.
